Healing The Right Way

3D Knit Compression Ankle Wrap Support Brace
When healing from an injury or a surgical procedure, support in the form of specific orthopedic braces and wraps can ease the road to recovery. People suffering from degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis may find significant relief with properly fitted support devices. Depending on the compromised area of the body, the following types of orthopedic wraps, braces, and supports serve to accelerate a safe recovery through different levels of immobilization and compression relief.

Neck Supports
Neck supports provide relief from neck soreness, damaged ligaments, and inflammation causing nerve pain. They help ease the weight of the head off the neck to allow the cervical structures to rest. Neck supports are also helpful in relieving discomfort due to degenerative changes to the cervical discs and joints.

Arm Braces
Repetitive wrist actions in restrained positions for sustained periods of time can result in painful median nerve entrapment in the wrists. This is common injury that occurs over time and is known as carpal tunnel syndrome. Removable arm braces place the wrist in a natural position during repetitive activities resulting in pain relief. Other forms of arm braces are useful for support, and for limiting mobilization to allow for proper healing.

Lower Back Braces
The five lumbar vertebrae that make up the lower back take the brunt of the weight, torque, and stress of the vertebral column. Lower back pain is a common complaint for many people at some point in their lives. The use of a corset-style lower back brace that wraps around the lower back and stomach has been reported to ease discomfort and pain in the lower back.

Orthopedic Knee Braces
Knee braces fall into these categories:
1. Prophylactic knee braces- serve to protect the knee from injury, or reduce the severity of injury to the knee during contact sports.
2. Functional knee braces- are used to help stabilize weak and compromised knees.
3. Rehabilitative knee braces- are used to protect the knee, and control motion post injury or surgery.
4. Patellofemoral knee braces- are designed to stabilize the patella (kneecap), and to help relieve pain in the anterior knee.

Ankle Braces
One of the most common sports-related injuries is an ankle injury. Ankle braces provide support after the athlete has sustained an injury and can reduce the risk of re-injury. Ankle braces are commonly used prophylactically to strengthen the ankle in order to avoid possible injury.

Orthopedic Wraps
Orthopedic wraps are used for prophylactic and functional support, and are commonly used by individuals suffering from degenerative ailments such as arthritis and osteoporosis. Cervical wraps that provide hot and cold therapies have proved to be effective methods for easing neck pain.
Ice wraps often provide immediate relief by reducing inflammation to ligaments and joints due to injury.
